Prostatectomy (Open)

Associate Professor Webb has over 20 years’ experience in open radical prostatectomy. This is the “gold standard” for the surgical management of carcinoma of the prostate. Robotic surgery is fast overtaking open surgery, but open surgery is still required in some cases where an extended lymph node dissection is required, or there is scarring from previous surgery preventing the use of the Robot, or in the very rare situation, in which a robotic operation has to be abandoned and finished by the open technique.

His long experience in this procedure is kept up to date as he still performs open radical prostatectomy at the Austin Hospital.
